Ecrire l’histoire du Cirque critically examined the historiography of the circus. Particular attention was paid to innovative contributions about the history of the circus artist’s body (animal/human) in relation to the following themes: circus archive and collection practices, circus nomadism, scientific and pseudo-scientific approaches, training, maintenance, and physical education.

The conference took place at the Université Paul Valéry Montpellier III in collaboration with the Université Libre de Bruxelles and the Théâtre des 13 Vents.
